General Printer E-mail Registration

Summary

Basic tutorial on adding a new user to an address book on a personal or departmental printer to make it easier to scan directly to an e-mail address from the physical device.

Issue/Question

  • Needing to add an e-mail to the address book of a personal or departmental printer.

Environment

  • General instructions for a variety of personal printers on campus: lexmark, hp, dell, etc. The most common found on campus being HP. 

Cause

  • Setting up a new printer and creating an address book for the device or adding a new user to an existing address book. 

Resolution

  • Most of the different printers on campus will have a similar UI to that found with the HP printer, we will use that for our demonstration. 
  • Navigate to the 'Scan' tab at the top of the page.
  • Click on the "E-mail Address Book' sub-section found on the left hand side of the screen. 

  • After arrive on this page, simply input the user's name and e-mail address into the corresponding boxes and click the 'Add/Edit' button and they should be registered to the device's address book. 

Notes

  • While this example was for an HP printer, most personal printers on campus should follow a similar format. If you run into any issues adding to an address book, feel free to contact the help desk to get you up and running.
