Preferred Name Change
Users can now fill out the Preferred Name form in Banner Self-Service under the Personal tab and, once processed, be able to see preferred name changes reflected throughout several campus systems such as Google, Microsoft, Canvas, Banner, Runway, and even your display name when you log in to a university-owned computer.
Please allow up to 24 hours for your name change to be reflected in these various systems. It is also important to note that due to there being thousands of custom reports run on campus, some communication with your preferred name may be sent to your home address. If you have updated your information through this form and notice that certain systems are not correct after a week’s time, please contact the Help Desk at 731-881-7900.
Setting Preferred Pronouns in Canvas
Students can designate their preferred pronouns from their UTM Canvas Account. From the top of the navy blue Global Menu, choose Student Account. From the pop-out window, choose Settings. In Settings, choose Edit, and follow the prompts. Please note that the changes made in Canvas will not be reflected automatically in Banner. For more information, click here.
