Connecting Student Laptops to Pharos Station

This article was created to assist students with connecting to the Pharos Printing Station.

NOTE

• The device you are connecting from MUST be connected to eduroam
• The Windows installer will not work on Mac devices.
• Installation display may vary on different operating systems.
• Compatible for Windows 10 & 11 and macOS 11-14

For Windows

1. Visit and download Pharos Printer Installer

 

• This should display a list of station installers

 

2. Select the desired Pharos Station to install the .exe file

 

• Run the .exe file

 

• Download may need to be run as an administrator

 

3. Installer will load, select Install to begin download 

 

• The installer should install the correct ports along with the printer driver

 

4. The installation will be complete. Once it is done, select Finish

 

5. The desired station should be listed under Printers & Scanners in Windows Settings

 

6. Print to the station printer and swipe your Skyhawk Card

 

7. Select your print. If it prints, ALL DONE

For Mac

1. Visit and download the Pharos Popup Installer here .

• Click Download and it will ask for your email.

 

• Double click the installer and a ZIP file will save to downloads.

 

2. Run Popup.dmg

 

• It will appear again in Finder, run the installer and instructions will follow.

 

• Click on Continue and read as you go.

 

3. Go to System Settings and select Printers & Scanners

 

4. Select the + icon or Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax

 

5. Right-click on the tabs in the toolbar above to add the Advanced tab

• Options may appear different on Customize Toolbar
• Drag the gear icon to add

 

6. Under Type, select Pharos Print Server

 

7. Enter desired Popup URL

• Popup://charger.utm.edu:515/CommLabMac
• Popup://charger.utm.edu:515/Lib24hrColorMac

8. Name the printer

 

9. Under Use, select the Generic PCL printer driver

•  Installation of other printer drivers may be required

 

10. Print to the station printer and swipe your Skyhawk Card

 

11. Select your print. If it prints, ALL DONE
