Issue/Question
Snip & Sketch gives the "This app can't open" error when trying to make a new snip in Windows 11.
Environment
Windows 11
Cause
Trying to use the Snip & Sketch application to take a screen snippet in Windows 11.
Resolution
Open Installed Apps through Settings in Windows.
Search for Snipping Tool.
Click the three dots to the right of the Snipping Tool application and select Uninstall.
If the computer was upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10, navigate to the System32 in Windows.old. Open up the file explorer and search this File path: C:\Windows.old\Windows\System32
Once in System32 in the Windows.old folder, find SnippingTool.exe.
Option 1: Right click the .exe file and select Show more options > Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)
Option 2: Open SnippingTool.exe, right click the icon on the taskbar, then select Pin to taskbar.
